At Society, Ashley has materialized again after missing the whole Martin Laurent video call at the Abbott mansion. She complains to Abby about Patty terrorizing the family. Abby’s just glad she’s behind bars. Ashley complains about people like Patty and Martin, who don’t want to get well, when she’s working so hard at it. Abby admits she needs advice about Devon.

Abby explains that Devon’s not talking to her. Their differences started with their reactions to Mariah’s sentencing. He’s having mood swings and it’s escalating. When he’s not angry, he’s withdrawn and depressed. “This is not like Devon.” Ashley offers to talk to him.

Abby’s worried Devon will think she ran to her mommy with their family issues. Ashley knows if he’s having spiraling thoughts it can be overwhelming. She wants to help. Abby fears it will make things worse; he’s been so sensitive lately, but she agrees to let her mom try.

Change of Plans

At home, Sally’s on a call with Audra, who’s urging her to tell Billy about Newman Media. The redhead says he’ll be in London for a while, so she’ll have time to figure out how. Suddenly, she hears the door… he’s back! She let’s Audra go and learns that Billy and Jill fought on the plane, so he came home.

Billy explains that Jill told him he should never have anything to do with Chancellor and that Cane will be great for it. “There’s something more, it’s a little bizarre,” he adds. When they were fighting, she blurted out that Cane should be the only one to deal with the “complexities” inside Chancellor. There’s a secret and Jill is terrified he’ll figure out what it is.

Sally doesn’t get it. Billy explains that something must be hidden away, like the Maltese Falcon, and Jill knows that he would find it when no one else even knows how to look. He has to find out what it is. Sally thinks he’s found another way to fixate on Chancellor. Forging on, Billy explains there were secrets in Jill and Katherine’s relationship, like a music box. There’s a secret inside Chancellor and he has to find out what it is.

Billy changes the subject, and asks how things are with Spectra Charles. Sally twists her lips and he says, “Uh oh.” She insists the company is in great shape. She admits she was discussing something with Audra when he came in. She’ll maybe share it with him later. Billy runs off to check in with Cane and tell him Jill’s keeping a secret.

Cafe Clash

At Chancellor park, Devon rolls his eyes when he spots Cane, who asks about his trip. Devon attacks him for convincing Lily to bring him on at Chancellor and loading it up with losers. When is this clown show of his going to end?!

Cane wonders if Devon actually wants to go off on him in public and make everyone around listen to it. Devon rants that Cane is an opportunist. Why is he making these hires for Chancellor? To suck up to Jill or impress Lily? Cane reminds him it’s Lily’s company, not his; he’s making it about him.

Devon complains that he ruins everything he touches and took a handout from his ex-wife. Cane warns these rampages he’s on will hurt his relationships and reminds him Katherine left him Chancellor when she died. Devon harps that he can see him clearly, as well as Billy and Holden. They’re going to bury the company!

Cane, unruffled, reminds Devon that Billy hasn’t accepted the job yet and Holden is Lily’s brother. Devon doesn’t care. Cane needles, “What happened to all that devotion about the family business?” It has to be his family, his DNA?! Devon argues he hasn’t proved himself. Cane trusts him. Devon scoffs.

Cane thinks he’s just looking for reasons to unload on him. Devon snarks that he’s good at fooling people but everything he touches gets ruined. Cane says Lily is worried about him. He’s making up all this noise to distract from something else. He needs to figure it out before he pushes people away.

Devon accuses Cane of deflecting. Cane asks how his relationship is with Abby and his son. Devon warns him never to bring that up again given he was the worst. Cane made mistakes and is still trying to fix them. “Isn’t it hard, Devon, carrying around all that rage?” Devon wants to fold Chancellor into Winters and have Cane leave town. Cane smirks, “Two and a half billion isn’t enough for you?” Devon stalks off.

Digging In

Devon is the picture of conviviality when he meets up with Abby and Ashley at Society. After some chatter about Dom, Abby excuses herself, leaving Ashley to try digging into Devon’s issues. She asks how he’s been since Dom’s kidnapping.

Devon admits it was a nightmare, but Dom’s back and doing great. Ashley says adults need support too, and she’s offering it to him now. Abby’s worried about him. Devon insists he’s fine. Ashley knows trauma changes you and it can be difficult to come back from it… or even admit that it has changed you.

Ready to Go

At Chancellor Park, Billy joins Cane, who fills him in on Devon’s tirade about the two of them and Holden. Billy snarks, “Devon’s a ray of sunshine.” Cane says it makes him want to go fast and hard to make Chancellor a success. He asks why Billy’s back from London so soon. Billy explains she’s trying to keep him away from Chancellor. There’s a secret or mystery she doesn’t want him to know. He’s ready to sign on the dotted line to find out what she’s keeping from him.

The Final Scenes

At Society, Devon promises Ashley he’s there for his wife and son. She urges him to lean on Abby. She’s concerned about them. Devon keeps insisting everything’s fine. Ashley isn’t buying it and urges him to open up to his wife.

At Sally and Billy’s place, Audra’s arrived for a meeting. She’s concerned that Adam will blab about Newman Media and Billy will find out. Sally sighs that he’s home. She kept her mouth shut. “I know. This is bad.” Audra says she has to tell him… how much longer does she think she can keep it from him?

Sally sighs that she’s scared to tell Billy, who is upset that Jill isn’t being honest. Now, she’s hiding something too. Audra doesn’t want her blaming herself and urges her pal to tell him, the sooner the better. Sally will… she has no choice.

At Chancellor Café, Billy tells Cane that Jill nearly exposed herself during their conversation. Cane can’t offer him a contract to treasure hunt. Billy asks, “Do you know what Jill’s hiding? Have you known all along?”

Cane fumes about Billy wanting to come in for his own reasons. Billy insists that Jill is hiding something. He’s not imagining it. Jill has allowed him to stay angry with her for years in order to hide it. “It’s big.”
