Jason and Sonny Tearfully Part Ways — and Trina’s Stalker Targets [Spoiler]

Ric spots Liz and Dante in the park discussing softball. He approaches them and notes Dante’s pointers might not be that great given the PCPD is on a losing streak. Dante says he thinks they’ll be taking the trophy back from Corinthos Coffee this year, but Ric doubts it with him as the team’s new pitcher.

Ric asks Liz if she wants to grab a bite, but she has an early morning and needs to head home. He says it’s okay, so they plan on Wednesday for a date. They kiss, and he takes off.

Dante and Liz then talk about their shared secret, and the top cop reveals that Anna figured everything out about Rocco and let it go. Dante still feels bad that he used his position for personal gain, but Liz tells him not to feel guilty for choosing to protect Rocco, as she doesn’t regret helping him do so. He says she’s the only one he can talk to about this and who has consistently been honest with him. She says she always will.

Simon Makes a Discovery

Simon meets Brook Lynn at The Surf Lodge and tells her that he has big plans for Trina and Gio. He asks where she found Trina, and Brook Lynn says she first discovered her at last year’s Nurses Ball. The timing wasn’t right then, but now she’s graduated from college (guess we missed that!). Simon asks where their duo is, and Brook Lynn says they are on their way.

At Emma’s, she, Gio, Trina, and Kai are playing board games. Joss skips out, claiming she has work, though she’s really jogging in the park. Eventually their game is interrupted when Brook Lynn calls Gio about the meeting with Simon, which both he and Trina totally forgot about. Gio and Trina invite Kai and Emma to come with them, but Emma says she’ll stay behind and clean up.

Back at The Surf Lodge, Gio, Trina and Kai show up. Kai introduces himself and extends his hand, and Simon notes, “We have a problem.”

Simon and Brook Lynn step out, leaving the others flabbergasted as to what is going on. Simon thought Trina and Gio were a couple, but Brook Lynn says they’re just good friends. He explains they developed an entire marketing strategy around them being young and in love. He tells Brook Lynn to get them on board.

In the park, Joss is jogging, but is hit by pain. She recalls being shot on Spoon Island and tries to shake the memory. She keeps on going.

Joss Has a Warning for Jack

Nina shows up at Jack’s office to take him up on his dinner offer, but he’s unable to tonight as he’s expecting an important phone call. They chit-chat, and he tells her how he doesn’t want things to go wrong between them as they did with Carly. Nina suggests he can start by never comparing her to Carly again.

That’s when they’re interrupted when Joss appears, clearly catching them in a close moment. Nina asks what Joss is doing here, and Jack tells Nina that she’s an agent. Nina is one of the last to know. Nina heads out, and Joss warns Jack that Nina is a huge liability. Joss starts ranting about Nina and what she’s done to her family, but Jack cuts her off, shouting, “That’s enough!”

Carly and Anna Both Get Unexpected Surprises

At The Metro Court Gardens, Anna spots Valentin and Carly seriously making out, and Peter taunts her that it looks like Valentin can’t come to her rescue right now. She goes to leave, bumps into a server, and alerts the entire restaurant of her presence when they drop a bunch of utensils.

Anna walks over to Carly and Valentin, admitting that was mortifying. They invite her to join them, and she feels awkward as it’s clear they are celebrating something. Valentin says his assets have been unfrozen. Anna blurts out, “You just got your freedom back and are throwing it away? You fool!”

Anna assumes he extorted the WSB, but Valentin says he made a legal deal with Jack Brennan. Anna says the WSB never lets someone go. Disturbed, Carly believes Valentin is proof someone can get out, and she believes Joss will get out. Anna says it’s a little late for Joss.

Anna is sorry for what Jack did to Joss, and that she knew Joss was WSB since last summer. She tried to protect her, which is why she sent Jason to The Five Poppies. Carly is not happy that Anna knew about her daughter before she did, and Anna understands. Anna says if she’d have known Joss was considering joining, she would have done everything to dissuade her.

Carly thanks Anna for what she did for Joss, but she still believes Joss will walk away. Valentin gives Anna a clear look to play along with Carly’s delusions, and Anna says perhaps Carly is right. Anna says she’s taken up too much time and will let them get back to celebrating. She quickly takes off.

Carly tells Valentin that was unexpected, and Anna showed a kind of compassion no one has for Joss. Valentin notes that’s Anna, but something else is going on. He knows Anna’s been through hell and it will be a while before she can put Faison’s ghost to rest.

Nina appears, and Valentin approaches her and thanks her for helping him get access to his money again, which he believes is due to her association with Jack. He warns her that if she continues seeing Jack, she’ll regret it!

Anna returns home as Emma is cleaning up. Emma suggests they hang out and watch a movie, and Anna loves the idea. Emma asks about her day, and Anna says she ran into Carly and Valentin, and they talked about Joss. Emma can’t imagine dedicating one’s life to that organization, which pleases Anna to hear.

Jason’s Out!

At Sonny’s, the alleged mobster is stunned that Jason is quitting. Sonny offers to give him time off, but Jason wants out for good. Sonny asks for an explanation. Jason goes into all the details about the day he was taken away, the look on Rocco’s face after he shot Cullum to save him, and the look on Danny’s face when he was carted away by the WSB. At that moment, something in him broke, and he promised himself to do better.

Sonny reminds him they talked about getting out before. But with Sidwell gone and Cullum gone and dead, it’s safe. Jason says he can’t keep making sacrifices for him; he can’t kill again. He has to get out before Danny wants to follow in his footsteps. Sonny admits Danny already came to him for a job and revenge, but he told him no.

Jason says Danny will be an adult soon, and these are the last few years he has to be a dad to his son, so he’s out. Sonny asks what’s next, but Jason doesn’t know. Jason waxes about how Sonny took him in, became the brother he needed, and how grateful he is to him. He’d love to have Sonny’s blessing on this decision.
