As Days of Our Lives Bids Farewell to Lexie, Nikki Crawford Shares Her Own Goodbye:

Days lexie in a hospital bed, cries as Abe sits with her

And that’s all for Lexie Carver. Days of Our Lives said farewell to her once again, as Lexie passed away, surrounded by loved ones on Friday’s episode. Kayla tried to give Lexie more time with emergency treatment, but it just didn’t work. EJ’s miracle drug finally failed, and Lexie’s gone.

Nikki Crawford took a moment to say farewell on Instagram, writing, “What a beautiful ride. Lexie, you challenged me, moved me, and gave me so much to carry with me. Until we meet again… ”

And earlier in the week, Crawford shared a little something on Instagram as her time as Lexie drew to a close. “I just want to say thank you,” she wrote. “Thank you for allowing me to come into your living rooms and become a small part of your lives.

“Stepping into the shoes of a character who has meant so much to so many people was something I never took lightly. My hope was always to honor Lexie’s history while bringing my own heart and truth to her.”

It’s been a long, strange trip for Lexie, ever since we learned that EJ had bought the hospital to create a miracle drug to bring the dead back to life. And he was, apparently, starting with his very own sister.

We had our suspicions for some time before the reveal, but it seemed like a pretty big swing knowing that the show would have to recast Abe’s beloved, lost wife. Then, in March of this year, we got our first glimpse of Crawford’s Lexie as EJ showed Paulina (and us) who Dr. Rolf had been working on.

It was another two months until Lexie finally woke up and rejoined us in the land of the living, but the happiness was short lived. Just like her! By June, Lexie learned that the resurrection was temporary and she was dying once again. She then spent the last two months planning out her secret death.

That, fortunately, was thwarted, thanks to Cat’s interference, and it looks like Lexie will be able to die with her husband and son by her side the see her on. At least, we assume she’s dying. We just saw John Oliver’s Devlin St. John put on ice in one of the DiMera cryotubes, so if EJ had the inkling to, we suppose Lexie could be frozen once again. This time, it would be just before death.

Either way, Crawford’s run as a resurrected Lexie has come to an end. “Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me, rooted for her, laughed with her, cried with her, and taken this journey with me,” Crawford shared. “I’m so grateful for every moment of it.”
