EJ Blows Up Philip and Xander’s Celebration With a Single Call, and Kristen Manages to Make One Final Goodbye

Philip and Xander are celebrating with champagne in the middle of the square when EJ strolls up to the fellas, gloating. But he scurries off when Philip laughs and says they made a year’s worth of loan payments!

Will Philip Push Xander to Sarah?

Alone once again, Philip tells Xander that he’s the one who locked him and Sarah in the wine cellar. But his stupid mom spoiled his plans! Parents just don’t understand. Xander’s grateful, though, because it stopped something from happening. The time just isn’t right yet. According to Marlena.

“Sounds like psychobabble to me,” Philip mutters. (Sounds like a conflict of interest to us!) They go back and forth over whether or not Xander should go through with reuniting, and Philip tells him to live his life!

Did EJ Steal Gabi’s Designs?

EJ calls Rita to demand to know where the money came from, then races over to Gabi’s office (A new office! Yes, we all know it’s familiar looking) to scream at her. Gabi pretty much laughs in his face and confirms that she used her inheritance to bail Titan out. “What are you going to do, EJ? You gonna kill me?”

Maybe! But he can’t stop sneezing to do it. (Um, what’s going on here?) Once he calms the sneezing fit, Gabi accuses DiMera of ripping off her design. EJ denies it, mocks her and says Titan’s still going down in flames.

Holly Learns the Truth

Over at the Kiriakis mansion, Holly calls Sarah out for being super nice to her out of guilt. She demands to know if Sarah actually believes her this time. This came out of nowhere, so is Sarah just playing her to get the “truth?” (It’s nice to see Holly didn’t just forgive and forget!)

Sarah assures Holly they believe her, but it takes some pushing before she says why. Finally, she explains the Coriseal saga, blames EJ and insists Holly has to keep this secret. Holly’s horrified, but Sarah thinks EJ does care about her, just not as much as about him. Still, Holly needs some time alone.

What Happened to Kristen?

Brady and Steve go over Kristen’s disappearance in the Pub. She was either kidnapped, or she’s running scared from EJ. And that could be good, Steve says! (Er…) EJ’s got a lot of plates spinning “and sooner or later, he’s got to drop one. And it’s gonna all come crashing down.”

Brady shows Steve Kristen’s last text and Steve latches onto the au revoir . “Until we meet again.” She’s coming back! Some day. It could even be next week! (Or not.) But Steve insists Rachel will be fine and they’ll get through it.

Kristen Says Goodbye to Rachel

Aunt Susan shows up out of nowhere to visit Rachel in her room with a message from Kristen. (If that’s Susan, we’re eating her wig.) Susan says Kristen would give anything to be there, and everyone who loves Rachel will be there until she gets back.

“Susan” starts crying and blames it on a narwhal allergy, then Rachel peppers her with questions about her mom and what’s happening and not-Susan starts slipping up, but she doesn’t drop the act. Rachel gets more and more upset, until “Susan” gives her a big old hug from Kristen.

Can Brady Save Kristen?

Brady walks in on Susan and Rachel, then asks for a private moment with her aunt. He calls Kristen out the SECOND they’re alone and his ex drops the act. What in the world is going on, he demands. Kristen’s in danger from EJ and has to disappear — and she doesn’t want Brady involved at all.

Just accept this and let her go. She’ll come back some day, when the danger is past. She hands Brady a way to get a message to her if there’s an emergency with Rachel.

How Far Will Amy Go?

Amy shows up in the Kiriakis mansion and demands to know if Holly got her flowers. Sunflowers were Sophia’s favorite. She sent them to remind Holly of what she did to her. “I want you to think about it every day for the rest of your life.” Amy’s dropping the lawsuit — EJ bullied her into it — but Holly will face God’s judgement.

Also: “You will never be rid of me. I am going to be everywhere. At the grocery store. In the square. In your nightmares!” (Um, is this turning into a horror movie?) Amy will never stop and never let Holly forget what she did.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Just as Xander tries changing the topic to Philip and Gabi, Sarah pops up, followed shortly by Gabi. Only the latter joins, though Sarah thanks Gabi for what she did for their family.

Outside of the Pub, EJ calls Rita with an urgent request. Then Xander and the celebration is cut short. Xander hangs up and breaks the news: EJ called in their loan. They pay everything they owe by the end of the month. Or that’s it.
