Lily Declares War On Billy — and Cane Gives the Abbotts a Warning

At Society, Cane and Lily are not impressed when Billy announces that Chancellor is his. Fed up, Lily fires him. He claims she doesn’t have the authority. Cane accuses him of being a delusional brat, but Billy is confident they will both be out of the company by the end of the day.

Sitting, Billy joyfully shares the story of John Abbott’s loan and how Chancellor rightfully belongs to his family. They think he’s sad and obsessed, but Billy smirks that the truth is finally out after being buried in a basement. Lily can’t believe it. Billy isn’t saying Katherine knew, but it doesn’t matter. The contract would still hold.

Cane reminds Billy that he threw him a lifeline when no one else would. Billy dismisses this. He’s confident that his mother was trying to maintain her own reputation when she sold the company to Victor and cheated him out of his birthright. Cane spots Holden and leaves the table. Billy assures Lily he doesn’t expect her to vacate the offices today. Lily scoffs; does he really think she won’t fight? Putting him on notice, Lily warns he’ll lose everything that matters to him if he pursues this. With that, she storms out.

Undaunted, Billy joins Cane and Holden and announces that Holden is out of work until they sort this out. Cane’s beyond annoyed. He had to convince Lily to give Billy a shot, and now he’s made him look like a fool. Billy appreciates that he stood up for him, but fate clearly has other plans, and he’s been offered more than Cane ever could.

The Billy Problem

At Jabot, Ashley and Traci meet with Jack, who announces they may be richer than they’d thought. He fills them in on John bailing out Chancellor decades ago. According to Billy, they own the company. Jack thinks it would be a mistake to pursue this, but Kyle is meeting with their attorneys to see if it’s possible, and Billy is already forging ahead.

Ashley agrees they should leave it alone. Jack is sure their baby brother won’t drop it. Billy is convinced that Jill tried to bury this to save face in the business community… and he may be right. If he is, he’s finally getting what he thinks he’s always deserved.

Traci doesn’t think they should pursue this either, but Ashley admits she can understand that Billy wants autonomy; he doesn’t want to work under Jack or Cane. Jack wonders if she’s siding with Billy after all. She’s not; she can just see his perspective. Besides, trying to stop him will only make things worse. Jack worries that Billy will wind up tarnishing their father’s legacy.

The sisters fuss over Jack, who doesn’t need this stress. That hits home for him. Jack decides that this fight is not something he needs and he will stay out of it. A moment later, Cane calls to request a meeting. Jack guesses the fight has already started.

What’s Cookin’ at Nate’s?

In his penthouse, Nate tells Stephanie he’s opted to try the surgery on his hand. If it works, he’ll return to medicine, and that’s all down to her. Her passion for medicine has inspired him, and his old co-workers sing her praises. She’s thrilled, but urges him to remember there is a slim chance he may not recover. He’s eager to go ahead anyway. She’s just as eager to get him back to Memorial if all goes well.

Stephanie offers to take Nate to lunch, but he offers to cook for her. As he makes grilled cheese, they chat about basketball and how Devon has reacted to him leaving Winters. Nate hopes they can finally have some closure. Later, he explains that he started cooking to use his hands after his injury. Stephanie takes his hand and caresses the lines.

The Final Scenes

Still in Nate’s penthouse, he’s thrilled when Stephanie takes a call from her surgeon friend and learns things are in motion. They banter about sports and he offers to take her to a game to show appreciation for all she’s done for him. Stephanie will let him do that, but teases that, after that lunch, she’d like him to make another meal for her. He smiles, “I can do that.” She smiles back. Wait…wuuut?

Returning to Society, Lily’s looking for Cane, but is glad when she finds Holden instead. She tells her brother she’s going to war with Billy and needs allies. “Are you with me?”

At Jabot, Jack lets Cane into the office, where he’s happy to see Ashley and especially Traci. Once Cane confirms that they’re aware of what Billy’s up to, he warns that it’s insanity. He urges them to do whatever he can to stop their brother. Finally, Ashby warns, “If Billy moves forward with this, we will all regret it.”
