Two Down, One to Go? Did General Hospital Just Move One Step Closer to the Return of [Spoiler]?

We knew it the second we saw The Official Stalker Bulletin Board™ — and not for nothing, but why does every stalker have one? Somebody on General Hospital is fixated on rising star Trina. But who? The show has teed up some suspects, but if we’re being honest, we’re knocking them down as fast as General Hospital sets them up. So who are they pushing us towards and who are we leaning to?

The Ones Who Are Too Obvious

Right off the bat, the show took pains to make us think that it’s her boyfriend Kai’s old friend Quinn, going so far as to cut from him to the telltale bulletin board of pictures of Trina. But that’s too obvious, isn’t it? If General Hospital is going to work that hard to make us suspect Quinn, then it almost can’t be him.

But now, it seems that the show’s been pivoting away from Quinn and onto our second suspect: Simon!

Quinn, for the moment, seems to have been an initial feint. Now, it seems that General Hospital wants us to take a good long look at the music mogul who has swooped in to make Gio and Trina stars. And to be fair, that’s who a number of fans thought Quinn was meant to distract us from. Kai’s friend was too obvious, so it must have been the other guy who just popped up.

After all, Simon showed up and took an interest in Trina and Gio, just as a stalker popped up in the background. Coincidence? Of course not! But that doesn’t mean Simon’s the stalker, so much as another red herring. Because on Monday’s episode, Simon finally learned about Kai and he was not happy. He told Brook Lynn that he was planning on packaging Trina and Gio as hopelessly in love and Kai was in the way. Then, the show ended with the stalker making Kai disappear from a pic with a little Photoshop magic. Voila, gone!

And now, everything’s pointing straight to Simon, with all the subtlety that it was once pointing to Quinn. And that’s why once again we feel like it just can’t be Simon, can it?

That Leaves…

If you knew where this was going, then you aren’t alone. Because our best guess (or maybe we should say, hope) is Spencer, finally back from the dead! Obvs, no one wants him to have gone all Fatal Attraction on us. But perhaps his brush with death left him a little, shall we say, confused. Perhaps he’s forgotten that he’s in love with Trina and is now more obsessed with her.

He might not remember everything. He might not even really know who he is. Maybe all he remembers is Trina, and in his confused mind, he’s fixated on her.

That wouldn’t lead directly to the “Sprina” reunion that fans would kill to see. Down the line, though, after Spencer undergoes a few sessions with Kevin and regains his equilibrium, then we might get a Spencer/Trina/Kai love triangle. Or maybe this whole stalker thing will push Trina away from Kai and into Gio’s arms by then. (As it is, a Spencer recast has already been chosen, at least by the audience.)
