Chanel and Lexie Are Both Rushed to the Hospital, While a Frustrated Gwen Makes Demands to Play Ball
Monday, August 17, 2026: Today on Days of Our Lives, Chanel goes into labor, Lexie’s finally taken to the hospital and Gwen doesn’t want to play ball with Rafe and Jada.

Chanel starts going into labor while the family munches down on pizza — but she was supposed to give birth three weeks after chemo and the baby’s early! They’ve got to get her to the hospital, so Johnny calls Julie to watch Trey.
Will Gwen Turn On EJ?
Gwen’s mood isn’t any improved now that she and Rafe are back in Salem — in the police station no less. And she’s still worried about Leo! Jada joins them and learns all about Gwen’s Adventures In Alamainia.
But Gwen isn’t ready to say a word about EJ until she gets a guarantee that she’s protected from him and the courts! Jada promises to have a word with the DA — it is Belle after all, and she wants EJ taken down — and get her immunity. If she likes what she hears. They go around and around with Gwen wanting immunity first and the cops wanting her to squeal first.

Worse, Gwen has no faith in the Salem PD to protect her or actually put EJ for once. (Both very fair points) Rafe tries resorting to threats — EJ goes down for Dimitri’s kidnapping or she does — but Gwen calls their bluff, saying she knows there’s no evidence to keep her there. Otherwise, they wouldn’t need her. And that’s that! Rafe leaves and Jada tells Gwen she’s free to go.
Lexie’s Hospitalized
Abe sees Lexie unconscious in the bed and rushes over to her. Her heart’s still beating, but she’s not waking up, so Theo goes upstairs to wait for the ambulance he called. They rush to the hospital and tell Kayla what’s going on. She’s not giving up, though! The fellas go to get coffee just before Lani, Johnny, Chanel and a freaked out Paulina pop out of the elevator!

Unfortunately, Lexie’s still unresponsive when Kayla gets into the room. Eventually, she wakes and, while horrified to find out she’s in a hospital and Abe knows, fills Kayla in on how hopeless her condition is.
Is Chanel OK?
Next up, Kayla checks on Chanel. (Does the chief of staff handle everyone’s cases or just her friends?) But no one’s reassurances can calm Paulina down, so Lani drags her out of the room.

Finally alone, Chanel’s worried that the baby’s coming too early and they aren’t prepared. But as Johnny says, they’ve been doing just fine with Trey, and they’re not exactly new to this. It’s going to be rough, but they’ve got it. They’ve handled everything else life’s thrown at them. Johnny does his best to distract Chanel from labor pains by going over baby names.
How Long Does Lexie Have?
Lani and Paulina run into Theo and Abe and are stunned by the news that Lexie probably won’t be with them much longer. “Oh my God,” Paulina gasps, “I’m so sorry.” Kayla comes to get Theo and Abe (Lexie told her it was OK to bring them in) and Abe tells Paulina to give Chanel his love.
Lexie looks absolutely miserable as Abe and Theo rejoin her, but at least she’s awake. Kayla follows with Lexie’s bloodwork results. Rolf was right. Everything was right. Lexie’s body is shutting down. Kayla says they can buy her some time, but it won’t save her. Theo wants that, but Abe puts a hand on his son’s shoulder and says they’ll respect whatever Lexie’s wishes are. Fortunately, Lexie wants a little more time with the both of them.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Back home, Rafe fills a surprised Javi in on what went down and where Leo is. Well, surprised and angry. “That idiot! Brave idiot.” But he is not happy with Rafe for leaving Leo behind!
Paulina (calmed down now that she learned of Lexie’s dying, apparently) and Lani rejoin the couple with a gift for Trey, and Kayla comes back in with a gift for Chanel: A fresh popsicle! Her blood counts are a bit low, so they’re gonna do a transfusion… Which means no epidural. “This is what we’ve been practicing for,” Johnny tells his wife encouragingly. But then, he’s not the one in labor!
